Alexisonfire Releasing 2nd Edition Vinyl Box Set

When Alexisonfire initially released their limited edition vinyl box set on Christmas 2013, the response was so overwhelmingly alexisonfire-2014-smallhuge that all 1,000 copies made available sold out in less than 40 minutes.

Well, as promised by the band, a second pressing of the box set is happening. Beginning today, fans can head over to the official Alexisonfire, Dine Alone Records, or New Damage Records websites to pre-order the package.

The second edition – which will begin shipping in August – features all of the band’s studio albums, as well as an exclusive slipmat design for a respectable price tag of $120. The previous box set sold for $250, but came with many more bells and whistles.

Alexisonfire’s George Pettit had this to say about the release: “We are doing a 2nd Edition of the AOF box set. It’s slightly smaller than the original press and it’s a bit cheaper. It contains all of the studio albums on beautiful 180 gram 2xLP’s. The first press will remain nice and rare and special for all the psychopaths who got up early on Christmas Day to buy it; in all sincerity, that was amazing and we love you for that.

“So this is a good way to get all the AOF LPs in one shot but let’s say you hate Dog’s Blood or Crisis (pfft, we all know you love Crisis. Clearly the best AOF record…) and you don’t want them…you’re in luck because all of our albums will be pressed individually and sold a la carte,” he continued. “They will also be available in your local independent record stores near the end of the summer, should you feel the need to be charitable to a dying part of what was once a vibrant and profitable music industry.”

After the initial box set sold out, it was revealed by Pettit that the money Alexisonfire was earning as a result of the sales would go a long way to helping the band buy back the rights to their master recordings.
