Radiohead Awkwardly Interviewed about “The Bends”

Share

On this day in 1995, Radiohead truly established themselves as a modern music force through the release of their glorious sophomore album, The Bends. However, this 1995 interview with Canada’s MuchMusic proved that Radiohead was way more comfortable making killer music back in the day, than taking part in live televised interviews.

In this clip, the entire Radiohead contingent sit down for a chat on what MuchMusic coined as its ‘Brit Fit Day’ (eek!) to discuss The Bends, moving past their 1993 mega-single “Creep,” and being burnt out. (Also, keep an ear out for an audio cameo from the ringing rotary phones in the background.)

While the Radiohead fellas are ultimately polite, their shyness and the interviewers try-too-hard nature made for some fine moments of awkward television.
