Recent rumours regarding Trent Reznor exiting Beats Electronics following its sale to Apple “are all false,” a company spokesperson has trent-reznor-grammys-smallinformed Rolling Stone. The Nine Inch Nails frontman holds the role of Chief Creative Officer for Beats, and has played a major role in Beats Music, the subscription-based streaming service offered by the electronics manufacturer.

Last week, Apple purchased Beats for a whopping $3 billion, ending weeks of speculation that such a major acquisition was in the works.

Of course, times like these make you reflect back for any ties or tribulations Reznor has had with Apple, apart from the obvious nature of his music being made available through iTunes. In their report, Consequence of Sound found Reznor’s gem of a reaction to Apple banning The Downward Spiral app in 2009:

“You can buy The Downward Fucking Spiral on iTunes,” said Reznor, “but you can’t allow an iPhone app that may have a song with a bad word somewhere in it … Hey Apple, I just got some spam about fucking hot Asian teens through your e-mail program. I just saw two guys having explicit anal sex right there in Safari! On my iPhone! Come on Apple, think your policies through and for fuck’s sake get your app approval scenario together.”

This summer, Reznor will take Nine Inch Nails on the road with Soundgarden.
