Frank Turner Wraps Up His “record about survival.”

British folk rock favourite Frank Turner has let it be known through his Facebook page that his Frank-Turner-CDnew, yet-to-be-titled album is “finished” and “mastered.” Turner’s last album, Tape Deck Heart, emerged in 2013 and brought with added mainstream attention thanks to the success of the single, “Recovery.”

“I’m very happy with it. It’s louder, more direct, more (dare I say it) punk rock than previous efforts,” said Turner of the album in an interview with Riffyou.com in February. “It’s a defiant, upbeat record about survival. Something like that. It should be out in the summer.”

When we subsequently asked Turner, ‘what steps do you take to ensure that each album is a better representation of you as an artist and person?’ he replied:

“I don’t want to repeat myself and I want to keep the quality high enough to engage my interest, as much as anyone else’s. Having said that, the rest of the direction of a record will depend on circumstances at the time, what I’ve been thinking about, listening to and so on. I’ve grown up a lot since my first record and I’m a different person as a result, so hopefully that mitigates against repetition. Though in the final analysis it’s for other people to judge.”
