Future of Death From Above 1979 Still Unclear

This year, the reunited Death From Above 1979 blew many of us away with The Physical World, their first album since 2004’s DFA1979_LIVE_2014_MAINYou’re a Woman, I’m a Machine. However, as excited as we all may be to have the band back in our lives again, that doesn’t mean we should get too comfortable with that feeling.

In a recent interview with NME, vocalist and drummer Sebastien Grainger hinted that he isn’t certain about Death From Above 1979’s future, beyond the 2015 music festival season. He said that “this band doesn’t get any easier” and that it’s “just such a physical undertaking” to play shows, no matter how much one may romanticize that.

“I don’t know what we’re going to be doing next to be honest,” added Grainger. “We just want to keep the energy in the band positive. I don’t know what’s going to happen, we’ll see.”

Earlier this summer during an interview with Billboard, Grainger and bassist Jesse F. Keeler explained the frustration they felt during the height of their popularity:

“Because we started in the hardcore/punk scene, someone got it in their minds that we could play all the time,” said Grainger.

“We just did fucking anything we were told to do,” added Keeler. “And it felt like an uphill climb.”

Currently, the band is wrapping up their North American tour, before they embark on a run of Canadian and European dates in early 2015.
