Listen to “Being Beige,” a New Song from Smashing Pumpkins

When Billy Corgan isn’t busy taking photos with cats or having to listen to ridiculous claims that many of his best songs were written about Courtney Love, he’s doing what he should be: making new Smashing Pumpkins music.

Today, Corgan has released “Being Beige,” the first track from the band’s forthcoming album, Monuments to an Elegy. The track – which features Tommy Lee of Motley Crue on drums – is a continual, emotional riser with sheering guitars and a vocal performance from Corgan that’ll bring you back to his band’s shiniest of years.

Monuments to an Elegy is due out December 9 and is just one of the two new Smashing Pumpkins albums that we should expect within the next year.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Corgan offered this explanation of “Being Beige”: “People always ask me to explain songs, and honestly I can’t. But if there’s honesty in this lyric, it’s that there’s something amiss in our cosmos. Yet still, we must love.”
