The Mahones Delay Album After Passing of Bassist

Over the weekend, it was learned that Paul “Cuzo” Mancuso, the bassist for veteran Celtic rock collective, The Mahones, had Cuzo-Mahonespassed away suddenly. Although he only performed with the band from 2012 onward, he had been considered part of the band’s family for years upon years ahead of that.

Today in a statement published upon the official Facebook page of The Mahones, it was announced that the band is shutting it down for the year and that the recording of their next album, The Hunger & The Fight (Part 2), has been postponed.

“The plan was to record The Hunger & The Fight (Part 2) in December/January for a March release. The studio time was booked, and we were really excited for the upcoming sessions,” reads the statement. “But we just can’t. It’s too much. We’ll be pushing the recording back to spring for a summer release. Sorry. We wouldn’t be giving you our best work if we went in right now, and that’s not OK. All of us need some time to grieve and wrap our heads around what just happened. We want to be with our friends & family right now, and not in the studio.”

The band also thanked fans for their “tremendous outpouring of love & support” and are “grateful for all of the messages, memories, [and] photos” of Mancuso that are being shared with them.

Riffyou.com would like to send its well wishes to our friends in The Mahones.
