Motley Crue Calling it Quits

motley-crue-1-smallMotley Crue is sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll incarnate, but after one more tour due to commence this August, members Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, and Tommy Lee, will walk away from it all after signing a “Cessation of Touring Agreement” today in Los Angeles.

In an official press release on the matter, said agreement is described as a tool to “prevent future, unauthorized touring.” That legal filing will take affect at the end of 2015.

Considering the bouts of bad blood and legalities that have been as big a feature for the band as their feathered hair was in the ‘80s, perhaps it makes sense to make it this official.

“(It has been) more drama than General Hospital’ [but] it keeps ’em watchin’ and they keep comin’ back,” said Mars at the press conference.

“Everything must come to an end!” added Lee. “We always had a vision of going out with a big fucking bang and not playing county fairs and clubs with one or two original band members! Our job here is done!”

The Final Tour, which will see shock-rock legend Alice Cooper support the Crue, kicks off in Grand Rapids, MI, on July 2. Tickets for the dates announced today go on sale to the general public on Friday, January 31. You can see the North American dates below.

In other Crue news, it’s been confirmed that a movie based on the band’s highly-popular memoir, The Dirt, will emerge in 2015, while this summer will see a country music Motley Crue tribute album featuring the likes of LeAnn Rimes and Florida Georgia Line. Further acts are still to be confirmed.

Motley Crue has sold over 80 million albums worldwide; made sex tapes with famous women; killed at least one person in a drunk driving accident; and had one member dead on the table for a few moments. Oh, they also penned such classics as “Shout at the Devil,” “Kickstart My Heart,” “Same Ol’ Situation,” “Dr. Feelgood,” and a ridiculously cool cover of The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter.”

As for tonight, the band will perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
