Well, this is strange. The Black Keys’ drummer Patrick Carney took to Twitter this morning and claimed that Jack White attempted to fight him last night at a bar in New York City. It’s been known for some time that White hasn’t been a fan of The Black Keys (he thinks the band has ripped off his sound), but many could’ve assumed that feud was at least cooled after this apology was issued in 2014.

Carney didn’t offer specifics regarding what prompted the encounter, but did explain that he’s not a fighter and that White is a “bully” and a “40 year old bully tried to fight the 35 year old nerd.”

Carney concluded with this: “Jack white is basically Billy Corgan’s dumb ass zero t-shirt in human form.”

White has responded to Carney’s allegations in a statement provided to Entertainment Weekly. It reads: “Nobody tried to fight you, Patrick. Nobody touched you or ‘bullied’ you. You were asked a question you couldn’t answer so you walked away. So quit whining to the Internet and speak face to face like a human being. End of story.”

Update 12:25pm EST: It appears that this feud may have been a big misunderstanding. Carney and White have seemingly called a truce.

Here is Carney’s initial Twitter thread that set this story into motion:
