Toronto Urban Roots Festival Pushed to September

One of last year’s Canadian summer music festival highlights was the Toronto Urban Roots Festival at violent-femmes-turf-MAINthe historic Fort York Commons. Held in early July, the event featured acts like The Gaslight Anthem, Sam Roberts Band, July Talk, Jenny Lewis, Gogol Bordello, Violent Femmes, Jeff Tweedy, and many more.

Due to the city hosting the Pan Am Games and Parapan American Games this July, the festival will instead be held from September 18-20 at the same venue as last year.

Organizers say that they are “feverishly” working on confirming headliners for TURF 2015, with performer- and ticket-related information to be announced by mid-April. In the meantime, TURF says to stay tuned for more updates slated for March.

The Toronto Urban Roots Festival featured three stages and a diversified collection of 44 artists/bands. Riffyou.com attended, and viewed the festival as one of the best organized and enjoyable music weekends that we’ve been fortunate enough to attend.
