Watch Johnny Marr & Noel Gallagher Play “How Soon is Now?”

While it’s been long understood that Morrissey and Johnny Marr have just about zero interest in a reunion of The Smiths, that doesn’t mean that a classic like “How Soon is Now?” should not continually be given the respect it deserves.

Last night during a gig at London’s O2 Brixton Academy, Marr invited up former Oasis mastermind, Noel Gallagher, for a cover of that ‘80s Brit-rock staple.

Said Marr: “I’d like to introduce someone who has been a friend of mine for 20 years. One of the greatest songwriters from this country. He’s a good man, I think he’s got a big future ahead of him. Mr. Noel Gallagher.”

Following the kind introduction, the audience was treated to excellent renditions of Iggy Pop’s “Lust for Life,” followed by “How Soon is Now?”

It’s nice to see that these two UK music greats get to continually prove that life can be better without tempestuous frontmen.
