Casualities & Hostage Situation at Eagles of Death Metal Show in Paris

Multiple news outlets are reporting that Paris has become the latest victim of an alleged terrorist attack. Early reports indicate a rising civilian death and injury toll.

One of the targets was at The Bataclan, a music venue that was holding an Eagles of Death Metal concert. It is believed that the attack occurred during or after the show, as photographs of the band onstage have surfaced.

Early indications are that there have been multiple casualties at The Bataclan and that upwards of 100 people are currently being held hostage. A local soccer stadium and a restaurant were also reportedly targeted in this attack. Stay tuned for updates as they become available.

UPDATE – 5:51pm EST: We have been informed by someone close to the band that most of Eagles of Death Metal have made it safely to a police station. Unfortunately, guitarist Dave Catching is still missing.

UPDATE – 6:05pm EST: French President Francois Hollande has stated that for the time being, no one will be allowed in or out of France.

UPDATE: – 6:25pm EST: Pitchfork (via The Washington Post) is reporting that the members of Eagles of Death Metal made it out of The Bataclan. That could mean Dave Catching is also safe, but we can’t confirm this. It’s also unclear the status of the band’s crew.

UPDATE: – 6:55pm EST: Multiple reports indicate that authorities have diffused the situation inside The Bataclan. Two attackers have been killed. It is unclear how many concertgoers were killed or injured during this attack.

UPDATE: – 7:25pm EST: The Associated Press reports that officials have confirmed at least 100 people died inside The Bataclan concert venue.
