Out in Whitehorse, Yukon today, the 40 albums selected for the annual Polaris Music Prize’s long list were revealed. As per usual, the list showcases the Canadian music scene’s vast diversity and heightened talent. To be selected, an album had to be awesome in the eyes of pundits, as well as released between June 2015 and May 2016. The full list can be seen below.

From here, this long list will be narrowed down 10 selections by July 14, with the winner being announced at a special gala on September 19. Apart from bragging rights, this prize also comes with a cool $50,000 for the winner.
