Before The 1975 became a super, gigantic big deal around the world, frontman Matt Healy was once romanticly linked to mega pop star Taylor Swift. In a new interview with Q, Healy went into sizeable detail regarding the nature of he and Swift’s past connection.

“I don’t do anything else, right, so it doesn’t leave a lot of room for me going out, or shagging someone,” related Healy. “So the one time I did have a flirtation with a girl it ends up going everywhere…. I mean, I got on E! News and people were like, ‘Who’s Matt Healy?’ so that was cool.”

“But I didn’t make a big deal out of it myself,” continued Healy. “It’s not really anything to talk about, because if she wasn’t Taylor Swift we wouldn’t be talking about her. She wasn’t a big impact on my life. It’s just interesting to me how interested the world is about Taylor Swift.”

Q would go onto ask Healy if he was ever concerned about losing his identity as the result of having a romantic relationship with Swift. He responded: “Yeah. Absolutely. And the reason I mention that is because if I had gone out with Taylor Swift I would’ve been, ‘Fucking hell! I am NOT being Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.’ You know, ‘FUCK. THAT.’ That’s also a man thing, a de-masculinating, emasculating thing.”

The 1975’s recently released album, I Like The Way You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It, went #1 in the US and UK.
