Arby’s Purchases the Big Hat of Pharrell Williams

pharrell-williams-hat-smallWhen mega-music producer and artist Pharrell Williams showed up at the Grammys in February in a red Adidas jacket and what some would call a ‘Smokey the Bear’ hat, we Canadians assumed that he was just paying tribute to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

Regardless of why he actually made this much talked about fashion decision, it has wound up benefitting the Williams-led children’s charity, From One Hand to Another.

Shortly after the Grammys, Williams placed the hat on eBay to raise money for his organization. The online auction closed last night, with a winning bid of $44,100. The winner? The king of roast beef sandwiches with processed cheese, Arby’s.

When Williams initially tweeted out a message thanking whomever the winning bidder was, Arby’s soon responded cleverly with “You’re welcome. We’re HAPPY to support a great cause & get our hat back. Good luck at the #Oscars tonight!” Williams was nominated in the Original Song category for the track, “Happy.”

It hasn’t been specified what the hat will now be used for, but we at Riffyou.com believe that it’s big enough to place atop a restaurant and draw in hungry travellers from miles around.

Williams’ new album G I R L dropped today.
