Who are you and what do you do?
“We’re Tempting Fate. We play kick ass music; we love to party; and just overall have a great time! Life is short, live it, have fun, and tempt fate all day, every day!”

In 100 words or less, tell us how your band has gotten to this point.
“We have gotten to this point by continuing to learn and pushing ourselves to get better. We are constantly refining our sound and figuring out how to do as much as we can ourselves. Practicing is very essential because you want to sound the same live as you do on a recording. Next, we promote all the time on social media. It is hands down the easiest way to get new fans that do not live near you. Last but not least, we always believe in ourselves!”

What is your latest release and how would you best describe it to someone who hasn’t heard your band?
“Our latest release is our brand new EP, Illusions – it’ll be out this spring. The best way to describe it would be something very new and fresh for the metalcore scene. With low tuned guitars, melodic guitar leads, hard hitting drums, and powerful in your face vocals, the album definitely stands out in its genre.”

When making an album, which aspect of the process do you put the most time into and why?
“When recording an album, we tend to put the most time into production and song writing. We feel it is very important to have the best possible quality of music, and we really strive to polish the sound we create. In this day and age, the barrier to recording is extremely minimal and to stand out, you really have to have a high-quality recording. We also feel song writing is equally as important because at the end of the day, it is still possible to have a kick ass recording and a horrible song. There are definitely times when a song just flows out so quick that it seems effortless…but for the most part, it takes time to write a really good song.”

What is the best part about your band and why?
“The best part about our band is that we write, record, and produce our own music. This gives us a very unique sound that does not fit a cookie cutter mold. Too many bands sound extremely similar to one another, so we pride ourselves in being different.”

How does your band survive the challenges of touring/gigging?
“The only way to survive gigging is just to practice, practice, practice. The more you practice, the easier it is come show time. The only difference being that your adrenaline is pumping and you tend to put much more energy into a live performance. I would say the hardest thing is really just not killing each other. We all get a long great, but there always comes a time when people disagree, so learning how to compromise goes a long way!”

Would you rather be critically-acclaimed; rich and famous; or an under-the-radar band with a dedicated fan base?
“That’s a tough one! I think we’d rather be critically acclaimed. Being rich and famous isn’t always everything. It’s nice to be liked, loved even. And in all honestly, if you are critically acclaimed, you are getting some fame and you are making money. At the end of the day, it’s all about people enjoying your music and liking you for who you are…the money and the fame will follow.”

If you’d have to compare your band to another one out there, living or dead, who would it be and why?
“If I had to compare our band to another, I’d have to say Avenged Sevenfold. Not because of their music, but just due to their professionalism. Not everyone will like their music, but you’ve got to respect them for what they do. They are tempting-fate-2extremely professional and it’s really admirable. I hope our fans look at us like that. It’s hard for us to really compare ourselves musically because if I sat here and said Suicide Silence, someone might say we’re not as heavy. If I sat here and said Underoath, someone might say we don’t have the poppy choruses like them. So it’s really tough to pinpoint, but I guess if I had to say something, we’d be a great middle ground between something like Underoath and Suicide Silence.”

Which band/musician would you like to share many drinks with? What would you talk about?
“I think it would be awesome to share drinks with Guns N’ Roses. They are such amazingly talented musicians and seem like some really cool dudes. It would be really cool to pick their brains and just hear stories of theirs. As much as we’d love to share our own stories, it would probably end up like an interview. I feel like they are one of the biggest bands that truly changed rock n’ roll, and it would be such an honour to meet them.”
