Tonight, Jay Z will officially take a giant pair of scissors and cut the ribbon off of TIDAL, a high-fidelity jay-zaudio and video streaming platform. The technology for TIDAL was acquired through the rap mogul’s recent $56 million purchase of Scandinavian entity, Aspiro.

Full details of what TIDAL will entail, will be discussed tonight at a 5pm EST press event in New York. Right now, the company describes itself as “the first music streaming service that combines the best High-Fidelity sound quality, High Definition music videos and expertly Curated Editorial.”

Thus far, two subscription options have been listed. One is $19.99 a month for “Lossless High Fidelity sound quality. High definition music videos. Expertly curated editorial.” The $9.99 monthly package includes “Standard sound quality. High definition music videos. Expertly curated editorial.” Both come with 30-day free trials.

Material from TIDAL can be streamed on the web and also be downloaded to iOS and Android devices.

Because Jay Z is Jay Z, he has managed to round up some big time support from big time music figures, including Jack White, Kanye West, Madonna, Daft Punk, Arcade Fire  and Coldplay. Need proof? Watch the first TIDAL commercial right here:
