metallica-band-photo-smallHeadbangers unite! Heavy Montreal is coming back to Montreal’s Parc Jean-Drapeau for the sixth instalment of the festival. Happening on August 9 and 10, the two day wallop of sound will be headlined by Metallica and Slayer.

Organizers note that this will be Metallica’s only North American tour stop this year, and that the band will be playing an all-request set. Those attending the festival will have the ability to submit their song requests through special codes that are provided once tickets are purchased.

Other bands on the bill include Lamb of God, Anthrax, The Offspring, Bad Religion, Pennywise, Dropkick Murphys, Three Days Grace, Monster Truck, D.R.I., Bat Sabbath (Cancer Bats’ Black Sabbath tribute), Body Count, Hatebreed, Exodus, Protest the Hero, Madball, Biblical, and more.

Organizers say that a fourth stage, dedicated to showcasing more artists – including local bands – will also be on site. Heavy Mania wrestlers will make a return appearance.

Two-day passes go on sale this Friday at 12pm EST, with a limited number of Early Bird packages available for $165. Single day passes will go on sale at a future date, depending upon availability.
