Stone Temple Pilots have been conducting a very public search for the next new singer of late and it appears as if the band is closing in on making a selection. Yesterday, a lengthy update was published upon the official STP Facebook page:

“Hi everyone.

“We wanted to once again thank all of those who took the time to submit. Thank you kindly.

“Those of you that put forth your top 3 candidates and singer suggestions was a great help as well. Thank you for that.

“With MANY hours clocked in behind the computer, the 3 of us have chosen and are auditioning some very talented people.

“Auditions will start on April 18th.

“We are thrilled to get in a room with each of these very talented individuals.

“Let the good times roll.

“Love,

“Robert, Eric, Dean.”

Original Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Scott Weiland passed away in December, while his successor – Chester Bennington – decided to once again focus all his energy on fronting Linkin Park.

“I think what we did offer Scott over the course of our career was the truth, and honesty,” offered bassist Robert DeLeo during an interview with KROQ earlier this year. “Someone who is that deep in their addiction runs from that, they run from truth and honesty. That’s where he was; we became these guys that he didn’t want to be around because we were telling him like it was.”
