Stream the Ryan Adams Punk Album “1984”

Even though Ryan Adams has made a living for a long time now as a purveyor of moody, sometimes bombastic alt-country, it’s been no secret that he also has an appreciation for music with a harder edge.

In 2010 he released Orion, a sci-fi concept metal album, followed by a seven-minute punk album he put out in 2013 under the moniker of Pornography. Now, just ahead of the September 9 issuing of his fourteenth ‘proper’ album, Adams is again exploring his dirtier side with the 1984 7”.

Sure, this was released back in July as a limited edition (selling out quickly, of course), but now we can all stream this 10-track, barely 30-minute punk rock exploration by Adams.

Described as ”homage to the halcyon days of the earliest releases from Dischord, SST, Touch & Go and their ilk,” how about we just sit back and enjoy a bunch of listens. Deal?
