When David Bowie passed away last month, a tremendous number of tributes rolled out from fellow artists, dignitaries and, of course, his devoted fan base. The amount of love still being sent out toward the memory and music of Bowie remains incredible.

On February 15, The Grammy Awards have planned its own Bowie tribute which will be directed by Chic member and Let’s Dance producer, Nile Rodgers and performed by, get this, Lady Gaga. Considering her vast appreciation for pushing artistic, fashion and sexual perception boundaries, this move makes sense.

“[Gaga’s performance] is going to be a true homage to who David was, particularly musically, but not ignoring his influence on fashion and pop culture in a broader way,” explained Grammy Awards producer Ken Ehrlich during an interview with The New York Times.

He added that Gaga’s Bowie tribute will run about seven minutes and include three to four songs. It is unclear which Bowie tunes she’ll reimagine on this night.

Ehrlich also noted that The Grammys had been approached by multiple other musicians interested in participating in a Bowie tribute: “Some…might have made sense; the vast majority didn’t.”

During an interview conducted with The Hollywood Reporter prior to Bowie’s death, this is what the “Bad Romance” singer had to say about the man:

“When I fell in love with David Bowie, when I was living on the Lower East Side, I always felt that his glamour was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls.”

This selection may not end up being the popular choice until the moment Gaga hits the stage and proves doubters wrong once again, but nevertheless, we can’t wait for this spectacle – it’ll likely be tremendously entertaining and heartfelt.

UPDATE: Today, it was also announced that Lady Gaga will sing the American National Anthem at Super Bowl 50 on February 7.
