Noel Gallagher Hates the Idea of New Music Fridays

Share

In June, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) confirmed that beginning July 10 (tomorrow), all new albums from around the world would be released on Fridays (instead of some regions doing Mondays, or Tuesdays, or whatever they feel like.) This day, said the group, would now be referred to as “New Music Fridays.”

During an interview with Noel Gallagher, NME brought the subject up to him. Seemingly surprised by the news, Gallagher was quick to verbally poop upon it.

“I run my own fucking record label,” said Gallagher. “I’ll release [my albums] on a Wednesday just to be fucking contrary. Not Friday… No, no, no, no…”

He continued: “Unfortunately, it won’t make shit albums any better, will it? They’ll still sound shit on a fucking Friday.”

Fortunately, there’s a very entertaining video of Gallagher offering those thoughts – and many more – on this subject.
