Burly Calling Wants to Send Your Band to Pouzza Fest

Pouzza-burly-calling-smallThe dust has barely settled following the seventh annual Burly Calling music festival in Burlington, ON, and its organizers – in partnership with Bombing Neverland’s Brad Sumak, Young Heart Music, and Hamilton’s Club Absinthe – want to fund a band’s trip to the Pouzza Fest in Montreal this coming May.

“We here at Burly Calling are grateful for yet another awesome year the music community has given us,” reads the official media release. “We know that so much of our success relies on the hard working bands and artists that get out and promote, tweet, flyer, post, scream and yell about our modest showcase. To show our gratitude we wanted to give something back.”

On December 27, interested bands are asked to stop by Club Absinthe to party, and subsequently register themselves for the “Road to Pouzza” battle of the bands competition. Then, beginning in February, that same venue will host five nights of battles, with the finale taking place on April 25. The winner will be selected on that date and receive the door profits collected from each night of competition.

The organizers state that the winner isn’t permitted to just pocket the cash and head home, as said prize money is designated to help get the victor to Montreal for the three-day punk rock extravaganza that runs from May 16-18.

The competition dates are as follows:

Friday, February 28
Friday, March 14
Friday, March 28
Friday, April 11
Friday, April 25
