Look Who is Playing Rivers Cuomo in a TV Show

Many moons ago it became known that Fox would broadcast Detour, a TV pilot based on the life of weezer-detourWeezer frontman Rivers Cuomo. The story will focus on Michael Sturges, a rock star that leaves his band at the age of 30 to go back to college. He will supposedly have an awkward roommate, instead of being the awkward roommate as one would’ve previously assumed.

Playing Sturges (or Cuomo, if you will) is British actor Ben Aldridge…someone who doesn’t look anything like the person in which this story is inspired by. Aldridge had previously acted in TV series’ like Reign and Our Girl. We wonder how he’ll handle thick-framed eyeglasses.

The pilot was written by Psych creator Steve Franks and will be directed by Jeremy Garelick (The Wedding Ringer.) Cuomo will serve as a producer.

In a recent interview, Cuomo revealed which Weezer album currently influences him the most.
