Mac DeMarco Shoes Fetching More Than 10K on eBay

Mac DeMarco has become an indie rock superman to some, but for those at the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls, he is sure DeMarcoShoesbeginning to look like Captain Philanthropy.

On Sunday afternoon, DeMarco put up a pair of his stage-worn, autographed shoes on eBay in an attempt to raise money for the aforementioned camp. Less than a day later, the highest bid now sits at $10,001. It has taken only 138 bids to reach that number.

The best part about this endeavour is that bids are still being collected for six more days. It’s hard to imagine that the current pace will continue, but for the kids who want to rock, we sure hope it does.

“I’m selling an old pair of my shoes,” reads DeMarco’s product explanation on the eBay page. “I’ve John Hancocked the left shoe. Will anyone buy an old stinky pair of shoes? I don’t know. Lets wait and see. I’ll probably throw some other crap in the box before shipping it, I dunno what. If you’re one of those kids who tried to take them off my feet while I was crowd surfing at some point this year, nice try jackass. But hey, here’s another opportunity for you to have them.”

DeMarco has also provided a full list of the tour dates in which the shoes were worn for. Boy, these shoes must’ve seen some things.

Anyways, click here if you’d like to support the cause.

DeMarco’s latest album, Salad Days, has been hugely revered and earlier this year wound up on the Polaris Music Prize Short List.
