Nikki Sixx Won’t Accept Mötley Crüe Rock Hall Induction

It can be argued that one of the more debated bands in rock history is Mötley Crüe. There are a lot of motley-cruesongs and tales of backstage antics that make it hard not to love them, but just as many of both to make you loath the ground they walk upon.

One institution that seemingly doesn’t have an interest in celebrating Mötley Crüe is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Having been eligible for induction since 2006, the band has yet to get the call.

Yesterday, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx took to his Facebook page to request that fans not vote for him in a ‘Best Bassist’ competition, stating that: “I don’t need awards to validate what I’ve achieved in the last 33 years.”

About an hour later, Sixx then took aim at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, confirming that he would refuse induction if Mötley Crüe were ever to be honoured.

“The only award I look forward to getting [is] the one I will probably decline and that’s the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame,” he wrote. “It’s a fixed old boy network that has lost touch with art, songwriting craft, lyrics and influential music and usually has other agendas at hand. Young bands tell me its a joke and these bands are the future.”

Mötley Crüe is currently on its farewell tour and contractually agreed in early 2014 that the band would not reunite once said tour finished up.
