GWAR Frontman Gets Memorialized

On Friday in Richmond, VA, as part of the annual GWAR B-Q festivities, recently deceased frontman Dave “Oderus Urungus” Brockie was publically memorialized in true GWAR fashion. His unmistakable costume was sent off to sea upon a Viking ship that was set aflame by a lit arrow shot into it. You can watch that dramatic moment right here:

Paul Giamatti Goes Straight Outta Compton

Critically-acclaimed actor Paul Giamatti has reportedly been cast in the forthcoming N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton, as Jerry Heller, the group’s controversial manager and Co-Founder of Ruthless Records. Heller is said to have cheated N.W.A. out of royalties, leading to very public disputes with Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. Here’s hoping Giamatti can bring this kind of passion to the role:

Artist Creates Art Exhibit with Marked-Up Copies of The Beatles’ White Album

Over the last eight years, artist Rutherford Chang has been actively seeking out marked-up copies of The Beatles’ White Album. The end result is an exhibit titled We Buy White Albums. It features more than 1,000 copies of the album, all of which had been decorated by previous owners. Recently exhibited in New York, the show has since sprung up in The Beatles’ Liverpool stomping grounds.

Danzig Gets Going on Elvis Tribute EP

When you have a nickname like “Evil Elvis,” it’s only a matter of time before you record some Presley tracks. According to a note on his official Facebook page, Glenn Danzig is working on an Elvis Presley covers EP called Danzig Sings Elvis. Further details weren’t released, including which songs are on Danzig’s list, as well as whether or not he’ll tour in a sequenced jumpsuit and cape.
