Anti-Flag Reveal “American Spring” Songs & Artwork

Anti-Flag, who will release American Spring on May 15 through Spinefarm Records, have unveiled the album’s complete tracklisting and artwork.

“The songs of American Spring are an aggressive critique of the global social and political climate of 2015,” reads a statement found upon the Anti-Flag Facebook page. “The artwork is no different. The cover art is meant to challenge our collective view of violence and peace. The entire American Spring package includes essays, personal liner notes, and further information behind the driving forces of each song, detailing ways for us all to take action against injustice in the world. The American Spring is now.”

When Riffyou.com spoke with Anti-Flag bassist and vocalist Chris #2 in January, he described the feeling of American Spring.

“I would say it’s less than hopeful,” said #2. “But, it’s angry. It’s an angry record. It’s written at a time where we feel let down and that an opportunity was missed. We’re going to make sure that we don’t roll over in a bed of apathy. That’s been my biggest fear of the post-Obama depression: is that it’ll make people apathetic.”

He also noted: “I feel like American Spring sits somewhere between The Terror State and For Blood and Empire, in being the sound that you’ve come to expect from Anti-Flag. But, also us proving that even after 20+ years, we’re far better than we were when we started.”
