Riff Pics: SiriusXM Indie Awards Performers
On Saturday night as part of Canadian Music Week, the SiriusXM Indie Awards were handed out within the Grand Ballroom at The Sheraton Centre in downtown Toronto. In all, 37 awards were presented, with Alvvays (English) and Miracles (French) receiving Emerging Artist of the Year honours. Both received $5,000 and supreme bragging rights.
In addition to the awards, the night was stockpiled with engaging performances from the aforementioned Alvvays and Miracles, as well as Broncho and The Glorious Sons. After all winners were announced, Billy Talent took the stage for a searing headlining set that featured favourites like “Devil in a Midnight Mass,” “Try Honesty,” “The River Below,” as well as one of the band’s newest tracks, “Kingdom of Zod.”
