Single Mothers & The Dirty Nil Get on the Road

Rising Ontario punkers Single Mothers and The Dirty Nil will be bringing their finely tuned Mayhem across chunks of North America with a tour set to begin on February 19 in Detroit.

The nearly month-and-a-half run of dates will primarily be spent in the US, with select Western Canadian cities (Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Victoria) included in the mix. When the two part ways, Single Mothers will hit Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Buffalo, while The Dirty Nil will be gearing up to play each and every VANS Warped Tour show from June 19 to August 8.

When Single Mothers released their debut album, Negative Qualities, influential Toronto music publication Exclaim didn’t like it very much and bashed the effort. In the review, The Dirty Nil and PUP also received a punch to the mouth.

“What I took from that whole thing of them grouping our three bands together, was that it speaks more to a growing scene…and bands from this area succeeding, and getting out,” offered Single Mothers guitarist Michael Peterson in an interview with Riffyou.com shortly after the review emerged.

“Not only were they talking about one band, they were talking about all of us –including our crew of friends and supporters. What should be taken from this is that we’re making noise and people are paying attention to that. “With any art or form of creativity,” he continued, “it’s better to polarize people than just be kind of liked and be somewhere in the middle ground. I’d rather people love us or hate us.”
