“Weird Al” Says He and Jack White Bonded Over Coffee

When a photo emerged in February of “Weird Al” Yankovic and Jack White sitting down for coffee Weird-Al-Whiteetogether, the Internet didn’t break, but perhaps some maintenance had to be done afterwards.

In a new interview with Consequence of Sound, Yankovic discussed how that moment came to be, while politely shooting down the idea of joining White’s Third Man Records label.

“I’m not planning on signing any new record deals, but I love Third Man Records. Jack [White] is the coolest guy. That was so much fun. We bonded,” explained Yankovic.

“Jack White made the joke that you’ve really made it when you’ve had coffee with ‘Weird Al.’ Then, his manager called my manager and set it up,” he continued. “I had coffee with Jack White at a Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank a few weeks later and we hit it off and kind of became friends.”

Yankovic’s connection with White and Third Man Records continued last month as he went down to the label’s headquarters and laid down a recording in its “Voice-O-Graph” booth.

Perhaps a Yankovic parody of “Lazaretto” could be en route?

One could only hope.
