Alexisonfire Return to Play Festivals in 2015

After suggesting last week that a big announcement was on the way, Alexisonfire have confirmed that alexis-update-tourthey’ll return for a series of festival appearances in 2015.

The band, which previously came to a close following a show on December 30, 2012, will reunite for performances at Heavy Montreal, Reading Festival (UK), Leeds Festival (UK), Sonic Boom (Edmonton), X-Fest (Calgary), Riot Fest Toronto, plus a yet to be announced US show (we assume that’ll be a festival date too.)

To celebrate this big announcement, a limited number of specially priced general admission weekend passes for Riot Fest Toronto will be released on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 10 AM for only $69.50 (plus applicable service charges) via RiotFest.org and Ticketfly.com.

While our romantic theory that Alexisonfire would reunite at the JUNO Awards in Hamilton, Ontario, has been blown out of the water, Riffyou.com is thrilled to see what comes out of these shows. Festival runs like this often have a funny way of motivating reunited bands to make new music.

Since Alexisonfire waved goodbye almost three years ago, Dallas Green has experienced big success with City and Colour as well as You + Me. Additionally, Wade MacNeil has become the frontman for UK punk band Gallows and Jordan Hastings is drumming for the rock trio, Say Yes. George Pettit, meanwhile, is hammering along with his new band, Dead Tired.

During a recent interview with Riffyou.com, Dine Alone Records and Bedlam Music Mgmt. boss, Joel Carriere reflected on that aforementioned final Alexisonfire show in 2012: “I watched that band be better than perfect. I rarely see a band elevate to superstars like they did that night. It was so powerful and emotional. I still get goose bumps thinking about it. I remember that during the last song I was tearing up and felt so proud of what we accomplished. I was so proud of them…I also loved seeing my band be better than anything I have ever witnessed.”

Stay tuned for our Dine Alone Records 10th Anniversary feature interview with Carriere.
